I heard one girl saying how she had 2 flags...
american flags, and was deciding which one
to burn....one was taken from the flag pole at
McDonalds..I did not stop to talk to her, as i was
passing by, but thought i might have said, are
you aware how lucky you are to live where you
have such a choice? (the pollution alone from all
that synthetic fiber going up in smoke was a
choking thought.) I thought how the burning of the
flag could actually give more energy to the Bush regime,
as it cast a negative image on those who question
the powers that be. Wish i could have articulated some
of these ideas to those who were in the flag burning circle-
but alas, I did not take the opportunity...these were
big, big flags. What would you have said or done?
I liked her rebellious attitude, just wish it was focussed
in a more creative, less destructive way. Laurel
