The term blues ballads has been applied to the work of a number of singers- John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, Laverne Baker, Lonnie Johnson, Ethiopian blues ballads by Tezeta, B B King, etc.
I am not saying the designation is or is not correct or valid- just that it is used, mostly with reference to current singers' work.
