I teach my children that we celebrate birthdays not because someone is getting older but because we are glad they were born. There must be some more agreeable sounding song choices out there.
(My preferred song is probably actually virtually any song that the celebrant loves, as a way of honoring the celebrant. But it is nice to think of one that all the friends and relations can join in...)
