Thank the Lord I've found a rotten, dirty, gunnysack that's still got some rotten potatoes sticking to the bottom!

I abase myself. I pour ashes upon my head. I will wear the gunnysack to work and for days and days thereafter (that provides the sackcloth and ashes, see?), for one thing because Big Frankie took my pants.

I was in error about the title of McLuhan's book. What is worse, it is on my shelf, and if I had just turned slightly I could have prevented this public confession of my sin. I shall carry a forty pound candle through the streets and kneel before the Library whilst saying a novena, and then carry the candle inside and kneel before the servers whilst saying another novena, all the while wearing said sackcloth and ashes and a chastity belt of rusty barbed wire.

I am truly, truly repentant, and have been shown by Amos the error of my ways. He is correct, and I have to say that it takes a REALLY BIG guy to admit that. Someone who is just chock-full of intellectual honesty and ethical stuff. Someone who believes in the innate goodness of Humanity and the perfectability of Mankind (and Womankind). Someone who is willing and even eager to say, "Amos, you were right and I was in a tiny bit of error."

Amos, you were right and I was in a tiny bit of error. The title of the book IS "The Gutenberg Galaxy," not "The Gutenberg Solar System."
