Thread Name: BS: Why Are Republicans...
Subject: RE: BS: Why Are Republicans...
I think that this thread makes some false assumptions about Republicans being a unified, like-thinking group.

Just as I am sure that there are Democrats who do not agrree with all of the points of the Democratic party, there are Republicans that do not agree with all the issues that the current administration is pushing. Some of us do not agree with the attempt to pass laws against gay marriage, or that the Patriot act is a good thing.

HOWEVER, just as those whe support Kerry, because he is not Bush, we may support Bush, for what we consider good reasons. I would rather that the Republicans had a different candidate- as I am sure many of my liberal friends feel about Kerry. But we now have a binary choice- and each of us should make our vote based on what we believe will be best for this country.

The last polls I saw showed that 44% (+/- 3) of the voters preferred Bush over Kerry, and 48% (+/-3) preferred Kerry over Bush. This election will be decided by the middle 8%- Those who are not "right" or "left". All of us will have to live with the results. I may or may not like the results- but I intend to support the new administration regardless of who wins.

As I have stated before, I find almost no difference between the far Right and the far Left- BOTH seek to impose their will upon the rest of us, regardless of our desires.
