Brucie, the Victorian Era may be characterized as a time of sexual repression... but Queen Victoria herself had 9 children (or something like that), and not a one was adopted. Meaning no disrespect, but she was crazy about Albert, and they were pretty busy, if you get my meaning.

Anyhow, I've come to the conclusion that people in the 19th century were only "repressed" in polite company; meaning simply that they didn't talk about sex in public, because it was considered a private matter. That was the "ideal," anyhow; but let's face it, a group of women, or a group of men, can get into some pretty randy conversations. I don't believe that's anything at all new.

An interesting book on the subject is "The Story the Soldiers Wouldn't Tell: Sex and the Civil War." There was another book I read about women in the Victorian era that talked more about it, but I can't remember the name of it.

Teddies are all right, but I prefer nice gowns.
