Keep church and state separate, as you well know. It's this narrow vision of the world through a fundamentalist christian lens that separation of church and state is all about. And amazingly, it was the Baptists who fought the hardest to make sure church and state stayed separate--because they were afraid that otherwise the Puritans would legislate them out of existence.

I learned that from a friend who is a local Southern Baptist minister. Interesting guy. Who'd have thought we'd see eye-to-eye on anything?
