A friend of mine, Paddy Graber of Vancouver, sings an idiosyncratic version of this called "The Craig above Kilmara" [to the tune of "I know where I'm going"], which he likes to believe inspired Tannahill to write his version, and was at the back of McPeake's mind when he wrote his song.
