Thread Name: Favourite early radio shows
Subject: RE: Favourite early radio shows
One of earliest radio memories was "Let's Pretend." The there was the Jack Benny Show, Red Skelton Show, Little Orphan Annie, Jack Armstrong (The All American Boy!), The Lone Ranger, Gang Busters!, The Green Hornet, The Shadow, The Firestone Hour, I Love a Mystery, Gene Autry's Melody Ranch, The Hillbilly Hit Parade, The Lucky Strike Hit Parade, Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons, Three Sheets to the Wind (starring John Wayne in his early years), Lux Radio Theater, Just Plain Bill, Ma Perkins, My Gal Sal, The Mercury Theater. And lots more. I think one reason folks of my generation (read that old) have some pretty creative ideas is because we listened to radio before the moving pictures in our living rooms were available. We had to use our imagination.
