In addition to folk music events, I suggest you go to the Metropolitan Museum... one of the wonders of the world!

Radio City Music Hall has just been restored.

There are a lot of interesting things to do Downtown. Strange as it may seem, The New York Stock Exchange is a very interesting place to visit. Nearby are Fraunces Tavern (where Washington bid farewell to his troops), the twin towers of the World Trade Center, South Street Seaport Museum and the ferry ride to Staten Island... which costs nothing and gives you a great view of the city and harbor.
