Thread Name: Stewart Banjo Fans: eBay Alert
Subject: RE: Stewart Banjo Fans: E-Bay Alert
I haven't posted to this thread for some time but here's an interesting Stewart banjo for auction on eBay:

"JUNE CARTER CASH SS STEWART BANJO, PROFESSIONAL MODEL

Four string, two-piece flange, flat head tone ring, chrome-plated hardware, ebony fingerboard, pearl inlaid vine, on the peghead and fingerboard, carved flowers, SS Stewart, Phila. PA plaque. Black tape has been placed on the bottom rim."

The professional model was distributed via Sears Roebuck & CO, and is typically demonstrates a high level of craftsmenship. However, the description above does not seem to do justice for what is offered. Apparently the seller can't even count the number of strings and I'm not sure what he's refering to with regard to a "two-piece flange." I'm assuming this banjo was part of the late June Carter's estate but that is not clear on eBay but might be if the seller were contacted directly with an inquiry.

The banjo is probably worth $1500 to $2000 if it's in good condition and it appears to be in good condition. More photographs should be displayed by the seller or requested if you're actually planning to bid.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble
