I forgot to mention, when overnighting in Samos Town our attention was drawn to the pedestrianised shopping street where most of the shops and some of the eateries were. "Pedestrianised" apparently doesn't mean that motorbikes don't still roar down it just as they do on roads. We also found this in the Chora on Patmos, where the narrow medieval streets, some of them under buildings or with sections of steps and blind corners, were still used as a race track by the young blades and their bikes. Why Greece isn't preminent in 2-wheel motor sports, I'll never know. Motocross, Scrambling and Grand Prix are too tame, I suppose after "Mow down the tourist on the steps", "See how many generations of a family plus pets you can get on a scooter", "A box of Pampers, a 12-foot ladder, a goat and a crate of eggs on one motorbike, no problem" which are much more challenging!
