Is there a page or metre fit to speak
The chilly memory of an autumn day?
Where passion spent its fury on my shore
Wrenched anchor on the tide and sailed away.
Am I to toss and follow on its wake
Or rest alone in sun drenched misery?
How, then, am I to wrestle with this ghost
Contend with myriad dangers of the sea.
Where fettered, joy and sorrow search for grace,
Crave silence, peace and respite from the gale
To be, at last, by loving arms embraced;
Safe harbour 'neath the surface of this veil.
