I was there when they entered but left before all the fun. I think the 'ignore' button is probably the best way to deal with people you find offensive, then if everyone ignores them, hopefully they'll get the message, plus you don't have to read their rubbish. Clinton Hammond kindly instructed me in the use of the 'ignore' button yesterday. I DON'T think there should be a heavy hand on the chat room. The whole of Mudcat seems to me to be run intelligently and tolerantly and, let's face it, everyone is entitled to their opinions, even if they sometimes upset people. Once you start laying down the law about what can and can't be discussed in the chat you spoil the whole ethos of the thing. After all, 99% of people who go in there are lovely people who are great to talk to...why should the unpleasant minority change anything and spoil things?
