Thread Name: Hill Country Tunes by Samuel Bayard

(Unpaid) recommendation for Todd's CD, and for the .pdf files of Hill Country Tunes. I bought my own copy from Folklore Associates of Hatboro PA around 1967. How did I know to do that? Well. . . Peggy Seeger made a record for the long-dead Folk-Lyric label in the early 60s and the last couple tunes were a self'described "experiment in playing fiddle tunes note for note on the banjo"-- four of the six tunes were from Bayard's book, which was the first I had heard of it. (Fifth and sixth were the New England chestnut "Opera Reel" and Devil's Dream and yes, this was about two years before Bill Keith joined Monroe's band)

What a nice thing for Penn State to do!
