Actually, Sins, not only was the rabbit seen but photos were taken of it. The whole thing didn't do President Carter's image much good - there are people to this day that don't believe that rabbits are able to swim - but then, nothing much worked for him when he was in the White House.

On the other hand, I for certain sure would not want a rabbit trying to climb into my canoe. It is not a good idea to get close to any animals that are acting contrary to their normal behavior.
