Sonnet 26/03/03                        DCCCIII

I cannot long desires deny, nor lose
All hope for future: I shall try to learn
What I might dare, to heart's desire amuse,
And offer her my soul, to sweet smile earn.
I think of her, and find that I have gained
Enough of care to ease my heart, and heal
Past disappointments. I have dream obtained,
To find that smile gives reasons to hope feel.
I dream of eyes, and smile, but know that heart
Is far more precious: Beauty does not tell
Why she inspires, nor how thoughts of her start
To write dreams upon page, and make soul well.
I hope for touch, but know her soul holds mine:
I find by her my heart can love define.
