Subject: RE: Brand new folk show on the radio
Hi all...

Last night's show was our first with a special guest. Hilary James joined us in the studio to talk about her various musical projects. In a rather nice link for us, she ran Reading University Folk Society in the late 70's .

If you want to hear the show and our chat with Hilary then you can listen again on:

www.1287am.com

When you do, you'll have a chance to win a signed copy of Hilary James and Simon Mayor's new album 'Laughing with the Moon'; a mixture of traditional and original songs and tunes, including a Playford dance, Carolan's Concerto, heart-rending traditional ballads and lively reels. If you want to know the question you need to answer to win, then you'll need to listen!

This week's playlist:

Whapweasel – The Final Last Banana/Sleeve in the Cheese
from Relentless (Whapweasel)

FLOOR SPOT - Hilary James and Simon Mayor – Newcastle
From Laughing with the Moon (Acoustics)

Jake Thackeray – Old Molly Metcalfe
from The Best of Jake Thackeray (EMI Gold) - Chosen by Hilary

Cilla Fisher – Blue Blazin' Blind Drunk
from – Cilla and Artie (Greentrax)

FLOOR SPOT - Hilary James and Simon Mayor – Andrew Lammie
from Laughing with the Moon (Acoustics)

Beryl Marriott - 18th Century English Dances - Chosen by Hilary
(Album details, well, I need to find them out!)

Phil Beer– The Firemans Song
from Hard Hats (HTD)

FLOOR SPOT - Hilary James and Simon Mayor – The Parrot Song
From Gobble! Gobble! Gobble! (Acoustics)

'Random Noises' (9pm - 10pm), is also hosted by Chris, this is what he played this week:

Delays – Lost in a Melody; Catherine Campbell – Improvements for Winter; Camel – Pressure Points; Mark Lanegan Band with PJ Harvey- Hit The City; Jim White – Static on the Radio; Le Tigre - Viz; Hilary James - Shenandoah; Kasabian – Processed Beats; Nick Drake –Northern Sky; Jamelia - Shop; Colum Sands and Sharon Aviv – Going Down to the Well with Maggie/Two Jays.

AND FINALLY...at the end of this very long post:

I'm hoping we'll have our 'Cool as Folk' website up by the end of the week, The idea is we can put more info on there, links to the people playing the stuff we've played, to interesting and useful sites like this one :o), and let people know where they can buy the music, see gigs etc. I'll keep you posted.

Cheers
