The Hillbillies recorded it in 1927...1st documented recording of the song Nine Pound Hammer. My great grandfather was the fiddler in that band. He picked up some of the lyrics from negro railroad workers in tennessee. He added to it cahanged someof the lyrics etc.. His version is what was copied throughout the late 20s.
