Sonnet 15/5/03                           DCCCXVIII

You are not dream, but give my heart a base
To dream upon. I do not seek to change
More than this distance: I wish touch might trace
What dream displays, to future rearrange.
Eyes are not gems, but in them I see more
Than treasure. I value all you might give
Of self, and ask if I might hopes restore,
To hold out heart to muse, and let dreams live.
Dream has not power that I find in you:
Your words bring more to mind than just desire.
Yet, passion for my muse is to dreams true:
How can I not love one that dreams inspire?
In you I find far more than source of art:
True beauty, quiet, rests within your heart.
