McDonald's calls 'em "French Fries." In fact, I've only been in one place where they were not called "French Fries" and they were changing back with the next printing of the menu.
A state like Idaho, which borders on the Tetons and has towns with names like Coeur d'Alene, St. Maries, Dubois, and Bruneau; lakes like Lake Pend Oreille, and tribes like the Nez Perce -- we call 'em French Fries.
