Malcolm Douglas: "frankly ludicrous" is a fair description of Norman Iles' "carol restorations" as he called them. Norman was an old friend in Lancaster in the 60's, we sang together often. He was an absolute sweetuie, and his songs were dreadful. But, as has been pointed out several times, one man's "dreadful" is another man's "wonderful", and who knows a Norman Iles' yuletide carol may yet be a big hit for some latterday neo-pagan Cliff Richard. But I wouldnt's bet on it.
