Just a sad footnote here but the voters of Alabama just this past month voted on a referendum to keep "segregationist" language in their constitution when it comes to white and "colored" children being educated in the same schools.

This is not a joke. The difference in vote totals fir the entire state was only about 1800 votes but the language prevailed.

I'm sure Dr. King would find this dismal.

Also, we really haven't achieved the goals of Brown v. Borad of Eductaion in that, yeah, we've made some strides but, fir the most part, we still have a long way to go in completely desegraating our schools.

In the DC area we have few if any truly desegregated schools. Most are either *predominantly* black or white...

Sorry to throw a wet blanket on remembering the achievements and courage of Rosa Parks. She is an American hero...
