Sonnet 08/06/03                         DCCCXXX

I offer muse far less than she deserves:
Only my heart and soul. Would I might send
Enough to bring her joy. Yet fate reserves
That chance: I cannot healing to muse lend.
I wish I could hold her in arms, and share
All that she feels. I cannot steal her pain,
But would do what I might to show I care:
How can I help, to happiness obtain?
I dream of muse's eyes, and gentle touch
Of lips on curve of neck. She remains near,
In heart and heart's desire, but should I such
Dreams of passion allow? Do I dreams fear?
She is reason to dream; The source of hope
That future may be kind within dream's scope.
