So in my ignorance...when I was running a certain Child Care establishment...I had two female students from America working with me for several weeks.
I asked them ...after they had been here some while, if they had seen the town (Preston) or been out with some of the staff and they said no..so I offered to take them out for the day!
I told them I would knock them up at around 8am in the morning and was greeted with howls of laughter.
To knock someone up in US apparently is to get them pregnant.
O.K so I took them out to a nightclub and one of them asked me "Do you shag" which allowed me to have my own back...Shag was at that time a dance in US which had not reached UK...Shag in the UK was well we all know the answer to that.
