well, we have very little carpet, but the Miele vacuum works JUST fine on hardwood floors, ceilings, old floor fans, computer keyboards,(you can change the power setting so it sucks at 5-6 different levels), shelves..etc. etc..there is separate piece for carpets that you don;t even need to buy if you don't have carpets...just a fine piece of engineering and planning...
