Sonnet 08/08/03                         DCCCXXXIX

I dream of those eyes, but I wish to stare
Into your soul, and feel your beating heart.
I cannot with words show how much I care,
But only you can give love leave to start.
What pictures might you send, to show the fire
I find within your heart? What view might show
What vision of you sees? Dream does not tire
Of looking at you, and hoping to know.
You offer image: Only dream can hold
To hopes, when arms cannot to desire reach.
Yet, dream might be enough, if truth be told:
Thought gives my heart the chance to passions teach.
All I require is hope, and honest smile:
It is not you, but my heart now on trial.
