First heard him playing soprano sax on a Sandy Brown recording call, I think, Sandy Brown Sidesmen. Played a Sandy Brown composition called 'In my Neck of the Woods'.
Fat B****rd, He apparently had a Degree in Agricultural Sciences from Cambridge, although remembering the names of tractors was the only evidence.
Good obit in D-T the other day, I loved the story about his National Service. He was a registered consciencous objector and elected to do his National Service as a hospital porter. This caused problems, A Cambridge Graduate as a porter was better qualified than a lot of the management. He then started an affair with a lady in X-Ray, who, as he put it, was a class above him and a class below him both at the same time.
Lovely man, fine musician, there must be a hell of a band assembling somewhere!
