Sonnet 24/08/03                         DCCCXLII

I offer rose to muse, that blossom learn
What beauty is. In muse's eyes I see
A part of heaven's light: How can I earn
My heart's desire, that her desires might be?
I offer shoulder to my muse, for tears,
And to lend to her what support I may.
I would don armor, and fight off her fears,
But should I try to more than at knight play?
I offer heart, and soul, and dreams, to show
How much her smile means. It is my choice,
To care. In her I find the chance to know
My dreams: How can I not to hopes give voice?
How can I less than all my being give?
She is my muse, giving me hope to live.
