Something that might make the little ones feel more secure is an old-fashioned wind-up clock wrapped in a soft blanket. Sounds like a mother's heartbeat. Try to tape over the alarm arming lever if you can. We did this with a puppy when I was growing up and the alarm went off in the middle of the night.
