It must have a great time for professional folksingers. In England there were folk clubs in every town.

Acoustic artists were in the charts like Dylan and Donovan and even the Ian campbell folk group. It was a huge popular movement with people feeling that they had discovered another byway of democracy - another means of expression.

Then all the traddies came and broke up the party and insisted , actually folk music is a glum business of 20 minute unaccompanied ballads in unintelligibe accents,people in fishermans smocks playing 25 minute slip jigs and laments on the tin whistle they bought last week.

that buggered everything.
