Sonnet 10/09/03                         DCCCXLVIII

Shall I tell of a muse of such sweet charm
That angels follow her, and hope to learn
The finer points of heaven? My dreams harm
Noone, save themselves, that they for her burn.
Shall I write of desire, for one more dear
To me than my own soul? My muse is one
I cannot keep from wanting to be near:
Yet I have not the right to hold her won.
Shall I dream of her eyes and smile, and seek
To find the words to let her know I care?
One kiss would show more than the lines I speak,
But should I hope thus to my passions share?
She is my dryad: For her, desires grow
To fill my heart. How can I her worth show?
