Happiness is found within, not in finding that "significant other". Security is found within too. Love is found within. Once one is happy and secure and loving within, then one is in a good position to form many positive relationships on the outside with others...and may find oneself quite content with OR without that one, special, significant other that is mythologized in society as the classic lover or spouse.

That's my take on it.

I would not have seen it that way in my 20's, though. Or in my 30's. I had to learn by hard experience, and it took until my mid-50's to do that.
