Sonnet 24/09/03                                DCCCLI

How can I give my muse her due, to show
What thought of her gives heart? Should I detail
What I have not the means to send? I know
She deserves far more than verse, without fail.
How can I tell her what she means to me,
Who sees her eyes as stars, and smile as light?
My efforts do not match my dreams, to free
Desires, that I might hope to hold her tight.
How will I find a path to heart's desire,
To fold dreams within arms? Might I with more
Than words caress, and more than words admire?
She is my muse: Thought of her is my core.
All I might offer I have sent: I pray
She knows how hard it is, to stay away.
