I don't know why I'm reminded of this, but once, I was waiting for a bus, and I started idly bouncing my white cane up and down. I noticed that whatever it was landing on was quite soft, but I kept on dropping it lightly. After about ten seconds of this, a quiet voice said: "That's my foot."
