Does dream offer enough to fill my need,
Or ease the ache I hold? I should not seek
To win desires: Yet, I must passions speak.
I ask not for your love, but I will plead
For smile and friendship: Is my longing greed
For what cannot be mine? Should I not try
To place my heart within my words, nor sigh
To know my muse will only my words read?
I do not blame you for my hopes, nor claim
More than these dreams, that your sweet smiles inspire:
You do not tease, but turn my thoughts to light.
I know I want far more, but can you blame
One who reaches for stars? I would be liar
To say I'd not wish to hold through the night.
