Looks like we just missed St Vincents day (22 Jan). According to Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable he is the patron saint of drunkards. This being a very arduous office, he has to share it with St Martin, who took on the task because his day (Nov 11) was formerly the Vinalia or feast of Bacchus.

Who but us drunkards could deserve two patron saints, and hence two golden excuses for a piss-up?
