Yup. Canada and the United States were both shivering in fear in early '42 at the thought of the Japanese invading the West Coast... :-) So they interned completely innocent Japanese immigrants in concentration camps, and deprived them of their homes, livelihood, and civil rights.

I can tell you from long experience in playing excellent military simulations of the WWII campaigns that there was no friggin' way the Japanese could have mounted such an invasion effort successfully (if at all)...it was beyond their capability...but that's with the benefit of hindsight. Paranoia almost always wins out over good morality and/or common sense in times of national emergency.
