I happen to agree with you about the greatness of the nation being reflected in its free examination of ideas, its open press, and its laws about freedom of speech.

It is unfortunate that these freedoms are less than they once were. For example, never before in my life have O heard of "free speech areas" where those who disagree were specifically required to congregate, and nowhere else. If that interpretation of the First Amendment doesn't make you nervous as hell, you're not paying attention.

But the nation still has its soul, no question.
