I live in Derby, a bit south of you in Matlock.
Mick Peat does lots of good stuff for young aspiring folk musicians in the area. He does a weekly folk programme on Radio Derby on Monday called Folk Waves.

There's a session at the Dead Poets in Holloway on a Sunday - I haven't been for a while but a good place to make contacts. Also a Wednesday session at the Derwent Arms, Whatstandwell but again I haven't been for a while.
