Thread Name: Lyr Add: Johnny Day (Rolf Harris)
Subject: Lyr Add: JOHNNY DAY (Rolf Harris)
No other reason than it's got under my skin and feel it should be here.

The author is someone called "Unknown" and I gather it was one of Rolf's minor hits in the UK back in the early sixties. It is very much in the same vein as "Sun Arise"

JOHNNY DAY

Johnny a'Day Day.
Johnny a'Day.
Young Johnny a'Day Day.
Johnny.

Couching unarmed and completely alone,
and just a hundred yards away,
his enemy is set to slay
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny a'Day.

Three spears he holds, and a woomera, too
and there's the blood lust a'burning
every time his eyes are turning to
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny a'Day.

Sad the tribe as they wait for the death of young
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny.

She was to marry a much older man,
but all the love she had was for the
tall and handsome lad they call
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny a'Day.

Three weeks have passed since the pair ran away,
but they were both dragged back
when all the hunters set to track young
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny a'Day.

Johnny was brought before the council of elders
and he heard them say
Three, give the older men
three spears against you,
thrown when the sun stands high today.

Ha!, there's the signal, the enemy leaps,
a flashing spear is hurled
and then the second and the third towards
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny a'Day.

Johnny dives flat back and rolls to his right
and then the jump - turns, twists,
and all the spears have missed
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny a'Day.

The tribe goes wild as they welcome to life again
Johnny a'Day Day
Johnny.

Johnny is living again
Johnny a'Day Day.
Johnny is living again
Johnny.
