One phrase that has stuck in my mind all of these years is Kenny Roger's "you're a hell of a singer and a powerful man but you surround yourself with people who demand so little of you" from "Sweet Music Man". I think it is because it has always summed up what I see in a lot of musicians...do I sound jaded?!
