Technical writing isn't such a bad racket. Your chances of winning the job, and of enjoying smooth sailing once you're in there, are enhanced because no one on the organizational chart is well qualified, well positioned, or even particularly interested, in finding fault with your work. (A long as you produce some work, and resist the temptation to spend too much time at the Mudcat Cafe!)
