Sonnet 12/02/04                     DCCCLXXVI

I see the rose's blush upon my muse
And Springtime sun within her eyes. I try
To tell how much she means, but can I choose
The words to bring her smile when my dreams cry?
I see the curve of tulip in her cheeks,
And know her skin is soft as unfurled flower.
I can only imagine song she speaks
When I dream of my muse, in winter's hour.
I see my dream, and wonder if I dare
To let hope grow, and love allow to bloom.
Should I risk what I have, to ask to share
More than my verse; To risk my own heart's doom?
I hold to image of her, to defend
My dreams, and heart, from this cold winter's end.
