I used to use Mozilla some, and I'm sorry, I don't remember a 'text box' within the browser. If I wanted to compose outside the browser, I used Metapad (I keep it's icon just visible in the corner.)

I don't know what firewall you use, but you should be able to configure ANY firewall to allow the site you choose. Somewhere there should be a list of sites you trust & don't trust.
