Thread Name: BS: Weaponization of Space
Subject: RE: BS: Weaponization of Space
I just listened to cross- sountry check-up on CBC. Seems that there is plenty of controversy around Martin's decision. Seems he and Pettigrew forgot to tell the U.S. ambassador that they were backing out. Oops!
Also seems to be a problem in as much as Canada is already supplying NORAD with tracking and communication technology. Canada also wants contracts to build some of the weaponary and other doo-dads that go along with the whole program.
The biggest problem seems to be that if a missle were heading for the U.S. over Canadian air space, the U.S. wouldn't have time to ask Canada's permission to shoot it down.
In the final analysis, everyone seems to wonder what the U.S. is afraid of. Korea or China? Neither makes much sense.
What makes more sense is that the U.S. is trying to escalate the arms race (more profit for the military-industrial complex) and China would go bankrupt (like Russia) trying to keep up.
Like I said before, its a good thing its a minority government or Martin would be trying to make a big buck from all of this. At this point it looks like he's trying to have his cake and eat it too.
