We need poetry because it is one of the few things in existence that produces a frequency capable of touching the soul through its defenses without harming it. These few things -- love, music and good laughter being three others -- are all that keep us from suffoicating into black, lost cinders of hopeless apathy at the hands of an indifferent entropic universe.

But with them, anything is possible.
