Well, I have to admit that my younger brother took a broken epee and made me a main gauche out of it. He cut away the bell guard and reversed it, so that it formed a U shape with which you can catch and twist a blade out of your opponents hand -- or, since it IS pointed, stick him with the 12 inch blace. The handle is turned walnut, the pommel is an old epee pommel.

He made two others at the same time for the College's drama department -- these didn't have points.

My brother Tony has an even dozen swords; Ted has at least three pointy and/or sharp ones (including a Phillipine beheading sword), a couple sabers, three or four foils, and two epees that used to belong to me.

I only have my cavalry saber and, now, an epee coming. And I only have the saber because my brothers bought for me, and they only did that so that I wouldn't be the odd man out.
