"And see that maiden shining in his eyes"

Some folks may need the rest of the verse for context:
"She'll look up in that weathered face
That loves hers, line for line
And see that maiden shining in his eyes
And laugh at how her mirror tells her lies"

But for me, that third line is what gives me a shiver and chokes me up.
