Don't you find that the people who turn up to Shindigs without an instrument then borrow one are by far the better musicians? The ones that turn up with all the bits and pieces are usually just average in my experience.They sit there with tuners and pitchforks and metronomes etc, and when they play the song you think "my god what a travesty".Then some scruffy upstart, with an annoying habit of chewing gum incessantly, is arm-twisted into stepping up and performing a "quick one" and you're transfixed by Nick Drake and Django Rheinhardt and Julian Bream rolled into one!
